Wintergreen oil

Also called oriental teaberry, cranberry or wintergreen oil, it has been used for centuries by the native tribes of North America to help treat lung, respiratory and fatigue diseases. Wintergreen oil is a natural antioxidant, energizing and immunizing, as it lowers inflammation and reduces pain. Primary source of methyl salicylate, it is commonly used as a natural analgesic even in over-the-counter drugs, since it is very effective in pain management: in particular it is able to soothe muscle pain and skin irritations. In addition to fighting pain, other evidence shows that this oil is perfect for fighting free radical damage and oxidative damage. Research has tested dried leaf extracts of oriental gaulteria to evaluate their efficacy as a source of antioxidant bioactive phytocompounds. Researchers have found high levels of antioxidants that fight inflammation, including phenols, procyanidins and phenolic acids. Moderate levels of flavonoid antioxidants were also found.
